I was fortunate enough to attend the first annual Interactive Austin conference about a week ago. Not only that, the conference gave me an opportunity to speak in front of industry leaders about User Experience in web 2.0 world.
Our Booth
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the bright orange (orange in Austin \m/) booth done by my company, FG Squared. Having attended many other conferences and trade show, I have seen many fancy booths. I have to say that our set up was one of the better booth designs I have seen. Having such a beautiful set up in the middle of conference, with assumption, increased overall user experience of attendees.
Lunch & Music
Lunch, sponsored by Apogee Search, Jazz music, by FG Squared, were nice addition to the conference.
Whether you like it or not, twitter definitely surves a good purpose using it with hashtag on such an event like this. Rachel Sherrell, one of the attendies, noted in her blog,
"One aspect I really like was that they had a Twitter feed running throughout, people tweeted questions during the panel, it also lightened up the mood a bit, allowing people to make silly comments on the big screen and tease the panelists when they slipped up."
Although it is not the first time that Twitter was utilized in such a way, it was a good chance to introduce such medium to a C level executives who are not familiar with the latest tech trends.
Photogrpahers posting pictures on Flickr minute to minute, allowed Twemes to display the latest photos from the conference was a good addition to the excitement also.
